Google GDrive Is Not A Rumor

Google is setting themselves up to provide full virtual computing over the web. 1. Data storage - Gdrive 2. Email - gmail 3. OpenOffice.org - in collaboration with Sun. With this scenario, if it pans out, you can operate with a small laptop, with decent processor speed, good internet connection via Wifi or cell connection. For mobile real estate professionals this could be the start of a very significant development. Google has made a PDF version of their "Google Analyst Day 2006" PowerPoint presentation. "With infinite storage, we can house all user files, including: emails, web history, pictures, bookmarks, etc and make it accessible from anywhere (any device, any platform, etc). We already have efforts in this direction in terms of GDrive, GDS, Lighthouse, but all of them face bandwidth and storage constraints today."excerpt from Analyst Day presentation notes.
TechCrunch blogger Mike Arrington thinks Amazon just stole the thunder from the chatter about Google's oft-discussed Gdrive. Amazon's move here is seen as an important one for the Internet; when it comes to online storage and how new software projects may use the service, Amazon could be the most important web service to debut to date.
